About Animara

Animara navigates the place of Philippine tradition and craft and challenges its boundaries in today’s modern world. Our design philosophy is reminiscent of girlhood and filled with nostalgia, but merges with the diverse spectrum of femininity and its nuances with the definitions of innocence, playfulness, and rebellion, as well as the imperfections these bring. We explore a more intimate relationship between the self and the body and focus on a sense of delicateness, detail, and flow around the body as we celebrate the softer qualities of Philippine culture and find strength in this gentleness.

Our practice leans towards a textile based approach, especially as we collaborate with handweaving communities to create a new context for passing down the craft and make space for Philippine tradition today. We are passionate about preserving our cultural identity and further enrich this craft as we share this with the world.
